I've been a lot of things since I was born, December 7, 1940, but, this is my first attempt at Webpage building, mostly, as a challenge to myself, because there are things I feel a need to say, and, can express no other way.
I'm an ex-Champion Archer, ex-Banzai Motorcycle Racer, ex-King of the Punching Bag at Gilley's, Nostradamian Translator, International Construction Superintendent, a Millwright/Mechanical Engineer by Trade, and training, an avid fan of Science, and, currently, an Anomaly Hunter. As with most things, there are underlying reasons for all of these, not least of which, is, I'm an Abductee, and, as such, I've suffered all the things normally associated with the UFO Experience.
Well? So...who am I? My name is Gordon Arthur DeSpain (the "Fat Bear of Spain"), but, I'm probably better known by most of those who would access this page (though few will know it...until they read 'this') as one of the real, original "Urban Cowboy's." At least, according to Sherwood Crier, in his response to some pointed questions about the contents of the Movie, aside from the fact that Susi and I sold our names to the Author for $2 apiece, before he wrote the Article for Parade Magazine (there were too many things in the movie that *rang bells*, and punched *all* my Buttons, and, sent me ballistic for reasons unscpecified).
Where did the title for this Webpage come from? Well...it came from here:
THE MILLENNIUM BALL
A man out of time, who feels out of place,
he rambles and looks, stands back-t'-th'-wall,
a nice little smile, but, damn little grace,
he's a Cowboy, at the Millennium Ball.
Got no horses, and cows he don't need,
three wives he's had, three kid's he recalls,
he travels the world, and works till he bleeds,
only a Cowboy at the Millennium Ball.
He looks at the past, and remembers the future,
Of dreams he is stripped, no plans left at all,
a stranger to peace, covered in old sutures,
a lost Cowboy, at the Millennium Ball.
End of a century, last days of an age,
a relic of history, for him there's no call,
but, this Cowboy's a fighter, got a Webpage,
a modern Cowboy, havin' a Ball.
